There have been two dates I've been looking forward to all my life, neither of which I ever expected to really see.  They were just something to fantasize about and occupy my thoughts as I Lewis-and-Clarked my way through the uncharted wilderness of life.  One was the day the Minnesota Vikings finally hoisted the Super Bowl trophy.  The other was the day I got married.

Over the years it became eerily apparent that the two goals seemed to mimic each other in their elusiveness.  Each Vikings season -- as well as every relationship -- started out with promise, blossomed into something that hopes and dreams are built on, and then ended abruptly, ripping my heart from my chest and leaving me to pick up the pieces of my shattered dreams and wait for the next season to come along.  

The closer I got to the finish line, and the closer I got to seeing my dreams realized, the more it hurt when it ended.  A Darrin Nelson dropped pass, or "I think we should just be friends."  Same feeling.  A Morten Andersen field goal in overtime, or "I need to take some time to think about things and see other people."  A Brett Favre interception, or "There's something I need to tell you."  These are the things that make you wish for a 3-13 season or a "What's your name again?"

But then something happened.  There was a fork in the road and the two paths veered off in opposite directions and right in the midst of the worst season in Vikings history (yes you were, 2010) I go and win the Super Bowl.  Her name is Angela.  

"He who finds a wife finds a good thing
and obtains favor from the Lord." -Proverbs 18:22

"And Belshazzar gave the command, and Daniel was clothed in purple, and he cursed the color purple from that day forward so that no team in purple ever won a Super Bowl." -Daniel 5:29***
